AskTheTrainer.com Personal Trainer Michael Behnken, MS, NASM-CPT-PES, CSCS Preacher curls are named after the bench which is at most gyms that looks like you should be praying on it. You can use anything which puts your arm at a decline angle. In this case a bench is used. To perform preacher curls properly always have your forearms in line with your upper arms. If you keep your wrists extended rather than flexed, your biceps will be isolated fully. Some say preacher curls isolate the insertion (lower) biceps, but that is up for debate. Preacher curls are best performed with an EZ curl bar on a preacher bench. San Francisco Personal Training fitSF.com
